Criminal Cases in the Gem County Courts
Gem County belongs to Idaho's Third Judicial District. Felony cases are heard in District Court. Gem County Court Divisions
One building does not mean one type of docket. A misdemeanor generally stays with the Magistrate Division. A disposition is the result of a charge. A dismissal ends that charge without a conviction, while an acquittal is a not-guilty finding. Neither term should be replaced with a guess based on an old booking entry.

Access & Restrictions
Idaho Court Administrative Rule 32 begins with public access but lists exemptions and sealing procedures. Juvenile matters, sensitive victim data, protected identifiers, presentence reports, and sealed case information may be withheld. An iCourt search that returns nothing can reflect a spelling or filter problem, a case not yet filed, a sealed or exempt record, or no matching public case. It does not prove that no arrest occurred.
For sealed records, the request form asks why access is sought and the requester's relationship to the case. Judicial approval may allow copies, view-only access, or audio, prohibit email delivery, or deny access. Under Idaho's Clean Slate framework, shielding limits public display for an eligible case but does not mean the file was destroyed. A later dismissal also does not always erase the earlier docket history.
When a public result seems wrong, compare it with a certified Gem County disposition. The clerk can address an error in its own case file. If Idaho State Police BCI still shows a missing or incorrect outcome, the certified court record supports the separate repository challenge process.
