Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its result. Gem County Criminal History does not retain or log those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email message may be retained long enough to answer and manage the exchange. It remains within the operating team unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Loading a page can automatically provide basic technical information about the visit:
- The IP address assigned to your device
- Which browser you are using and its version
- Your device type and operating system
- The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
- The site that sent you here, if any
- Timestamps for each page view
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small device files used to understand traffic patterns, such as popular pages and exit points. Analytics providers combine that usage information. Browser controls can block cookies, although doing so may change how parts of the website function.
What We Do With This Data
- Keeping the site up, running, and loading quickly
- Sending your search requests to the right partner service
- Figuring out which pages people find useful and which need work
- Tracking down and fixing technical issues
- Showing ads that may line up with your interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Gem County Criminal History does not host, compile, or sell a personal criminal-record database. It identifies official routes such as Gem County Sheriff Records, the District and Magistrate courts, Idaho State Police BCI, and the Idaho Central Sex Offender Registry. Visitor information is not assembled into a consumer report or third-party criminal profile, and this website is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes and apply their own privacy, retention, and disclosure rules to submitted information. This policy does not control that processing. Review the provider’s terms before running a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links to Gem County offices, Idaho court portals, state agencies, legal resources, and search providers lead to independently controlled websites. Once a visitor follows a link, the destination’s privacy policy applies.
Certain advertising partners may track your activity across sites to show targeted ads. That tracking runs on their systems, not ours.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:
- Search partners that handle queries you run on our site
- Analytics services we use to track traffic and performance
- Ad networks that place ads on our pages
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security practices protect collected data, but no internet system can guarantee absolute security or promise that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. Data known to have been provided by a minor will be removed.
Your Data Rights
Applicable law may provide additional rights. The Idaho Public Records Act, Title 74, Chapter 1, governs records held by Idaho public agencies, while Idaho Code §67-3008 addresses dissemination from the criminal-history repository. Those government-record rules are separate from this private website’s visitor-data practices. At a minimum, you can:
- Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
- Have us fix information that is wrong
- Request that we erase your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of data processing
Updates to This Policy
